At MODERN ACCENTS, we source only quality materials and use high quality plating. All of our jewelry go through a stringent two phase product test by our artisans and ourselves.
With that said, all jewelry (yes, even high end and regardless of metal types!) can still experience normal wear and tear over time.
To help your jewelry last as we intend it, please keep them away from moisture, creams, hand sanitizers and other harsh chemicals.
・ Store your treasured pieces in a jewelry case or, in your MODERN ACCENTS jewelry bag when not in use
・ Avoid sweating, swimming and showering with your jewelry on (handwashing with mild soap is acceptable!)
・ Avoid wearing your jewelry in the gym or high impact sports where damage can occur to the surface of your jewelry
・ Wipe your jewelry with the cloth provided with your order, or any soft cloth
・ If your 925 Sterling Silver jewelry shows any signs of oxidising, a polishing cloth will get rid of any marks easily
・ As a general rule, always put on your jewelry last! Clothes can get caught on the claws of your prong set jewelry and cause them to loosen.

Caring for Diamond Simulant jewelry

To preserve your diamond simulant's impeccable shine, cleaning them in a solution of diluted dish soap and water with a soft brush once a week will help to remove any dirt and oil build up.
As with all gemstones, please avoid wearing your high grade diamond simulant rings while exercising or participating in high impact activities.
While we can attest to our diamond simulant's incomparable sparkle, please remember that abuse of your jewelry can cause scratches to the surface of your stone and cause it to look dull.

Caring for Moissanite jewelry

Moissanites are the second hardest natural occuring gemstone, as long as you are not storing your moissanite jewelry with your diamonds, scratches are unlikely to occur.
As with all gemstones, cloudiness may occur due to a build up of oils and dirt. Cleaning them in a solution of diluted dish soap and water with a soft brush once a week will restore its original sparkle.
Gold-set Moissanite jewelry should follow the same jewelry care conditions. Gold, being as soft as they are, can sustain light scratches over time. Use with care, and avoid contact with harsh & acidic chemicals.
To clean, use a soft brush and a solution of lukewarm water and soap. Brush gently, and in one direction. Once dry, store in a jewelry dustbag.

Jewelry care for delicate items

Some designs in our line of jewelry are delicate, such as Tennis Bracelets, Tennis Necklaces and Thread Tassle Earrings.
Please ensure you are following the "How to put on" section for these products.
  • As tennis bracelets are designed to have their clasps meet straight, please do not use any twisting motions to put on or remove it as the links may snap.
  • Thread earrings are also delicate as they are designed to be thin. Any twisting or mishandling may cause the links to snap.

If you are sensitive to copper or brass, we recommend opting for our range of 925 Sterling Silver jewelry.

Waterproof and Tarnish-free jewelry

Our 18K Gold Plated Stainless Steel range of jewelry comes coated with a layer of protective sealant and has been tested under strict conditions for its waterproof and tarnish-free capabilities.
This includes showering in, swimming in and even dunking them in water for several days. However, we still recommend against these circumstances if you can under our jewelry care guide so that your jewelry's lustre lasts as intended.
If you have done any of the above with your stainless steel jewelry on, run it under some water to ensure no soap or oils are left on and leave to dry completely. You may store your jewelry in the dustbag provided with each order, or an enclosed jewelry case.

Caring for Brass jewelry

Our Brass jewelry come coated with a sealant to help against tarnishing, however it is best to avoid contact with water, creams and perfume as this may cause wear on the coating and lead to early tarnishing.
Tip for brass sensitivity: Apply a thin, even layer of metal jewelry coating, or clear nail polish to the areas that come in contact with your skin.
